Genitalic Differentiations in Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Gueneé) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) Associated with Solanaceae Crops in Ecuador
Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Guenée) is an oligophagous species of plants in the Solanaceae family that has a broad geographical distribution in the tropical zones of South America. It is the most important insect pest of naranjilla (Solanum quitoense Lamarck), a crop grown in threatened areas of the tropical old-growth forest in Ecuador. In this study, two host-specific populations of N. elegant...

A new species of Lixophaga Townsend (Diptera: Tachinidae) from Colombia, Lixophaga puscolulo Carrejo & Woodley, sp. nov., is described and illustrated. It is a parasitoid of the tomato fruit borer, Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Guenée) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), an insect pest of Solanum quitoense Lam., in Colombia. Aspects of its biology are briefly discussed.
متن کاملmanagement of neoleucinodes elegantalis (lepidoptera: crambidae) in tomatoes using mating disruption and attract and kill
the mating disruption technique has been widely used for the control of several lepidopteran pests. in the present study, we assessed the efficiency of two formulations of splat neo, a wax emulsion containing e-11-hexadecenol, with and without the insecticide cypermethrin, in affecting mating disruption of neoleucinodes elegantalis (guenée). we also determined the best phenological age or stage...
متن کاملRe-evaluation of sugarcane borer (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) bioeconomics in Louisiana
The sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis (F.) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), is the key insect pest of sugarcane, Saccharum spp., grown in Louisiana. For more than 40 years, Louisiana sugarcane farmers have used a value of 10% internodes bored at harvest as the economic injury level (EIL). Three plant-cane studies were conducted to re-evaluate the long-standing sugarcane borer EIL level using the m...
متن کاملTrapping Chilo Sacchariphagus (lepidoptera: Crambidae) in Sugarcane Using Synthetic Pheromones
In June 2002, pheromone-trapping techniques were used successfully to detect the presence of Chilo sacchariphagus Bojer (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) in sugarcane at Mafambisse and Marromeu sugar estates in Mozambique. Trap design, bait concentration, trap placement and moth flight activity were examined. A simple trap constructed from a 2-litre plastic bottle and baited with two commercial syntheti...
